Transition to a 4-day working week

From Monday 13th June 2022, Quality Precision Electronics will be operating under new production working hours.

We are now open Monday to Thursday, 07:00am to 17:15pm. Our facility is closed on a Friday.

All Admin, Accounts, Purchasing and Engineering contacts will still be available Monday to Friday (on +44 (0) 1592 771 455), with these employees working from home on a Friday (until 1pm).

There have been a number of factors involved in making this decision, which I have outlined below.

QPE is planning to become ISO 14001:2015 certified. ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. It helps organizations improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

QPE’s new working week will reduce our energy usage by 85,000kWh per annum, and reduce car journeys by 4,800 a year. In addition to this, our production staff will benefit from enjoying extended weekends and a healthy work/life balance, contributing to our social responsibility awareness as a business.

As Managing Director, I commute from Surrey, England to QPE’s facility in Glenrothes on a weekly basis. To contribute to our environmental sustainability efforts, I am reducing my travel by 25%, which will reduce our carbon footprint by 2,500kgs per annum.

Ongoing component shortages are far more of a challenge than any of us could have anticipated. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our customers for their continued support and understanding through the difficult market conditions we continue to face in our industry.

Many thanks,

Russell Dillon
